Kenny is on his feet!

Yesterday Kenny got his Gait walker. We are hoping that this will help him realize that his legs are there to walk and stand and to also strengthen them. I was so excited for him because he can be a little bit more independent than just crawling...he can be like the other kids and walk around. But I was also kind of sad because no mom wants to see their child have to struggle to learn something. I am so grateful to God for giving me my little miracle and I know there is a reason for everything that has happened...Maybe its to see that materialistic thing really DONT matter on this earth, or to not take people for granted, or...well...I really don't know. All I know is that I never in a million years did I think I would have a child who has so much going against him, yet he is perfect in every way! Even waking up every night, every 3-4 hours to give him his breathing treatments, fighting with him to keep his hearing aids in his ears, struggling every meal time to get him to eat something, anything, and now to try to learn to walk (at 23 months old). Its hard, very hard. I don't think people realize the extent of emotions ranging from happiness, gratefulness to stressed, sad, scared. I still wonder what the future holds for Kenny, but I am trying not to dwell on it. He will be the best he can be just like all my kids will. They will know right from wrong, work hard and try to succeed in everything they do...and if they fail, then I pray that they will pick themselves right back up, dust themselves off and keep at it until they succeed and are happy. I want them to have a love and closeness with their family, friends and God. Ah...so before I go on and on...I'll end it here and save it for another post!

Kenny is so adorable. I love his smile. I came across this quote and it made me think of Kenny."Every child is born a genius."

Oh, Michele, bless his heart! Kenny's story really hits home because my oldest son was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis at 11-weeks-old. Fortunately, emergency surgery took care of the problem and it is not recurrent. However, the trauma associated with the condition and subsequent surgery set him way back developmentally. For starters, he underwent many months of physical therapy. Also, until recently, his gross motor skills were substantially behind other kids. If it helps any to know, Andrew has made a complete turnaround. He is now a proficient jazz dancer (of all things), and he got straight A's on his most-recent interim report. But, early on, I never thought he'd catch up! So, hang in there and keep believing!

Also, Michele, I know you're busy, but if you ever decide the Bette Davis drawing is for sale, I'd love to purchase it.

Keep up the good work!

Aw your Kenny is a lovely boy. So full of life. I predict he is going to be a real mischief with this walker! Just look at his adorable grin.

I am so, so sorry that you lost your Nick.

This is the first time I have visited your blog. Thank you so much for writing it. Thank you so much for posting Nick and Kenny's birth story and for sharing the photographs of your beautiful boys. You are such a wonderful mommy. I don't know how you went through this experience with five children who needed you at home. Please don't blame yourself for the twins early birth. It is so hard not to I know. I do it myself.

Will be following Kenny's progress. I'm sure he will unstoppable now he has mastered waving!

Love Catherine

Thats great! I'm glad you were able to get this type of walker for him.

Tristan will be 2 on the 20th and still isn't walking, he will take some steps, but he rather crawl, now that he does that!

I'm sure both of our boys will get there, Tristan seems to do better with his dafo's off though, but he needs them.
